Automobiles in Germany's City Found Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Officers mentioned they were alerted by a man who found a car in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.

Cars, walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.

Police say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.

The substance had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then found many other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Police say preliminary tests indicate the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; investigators are presently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the incident," they stated.

Local authorities said they were trying "to resolve the case" and have requested to the public for tips.

A senior representative stated the vandalism left him stunned and needed to be solved rapidly.

"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on online, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a shooter targeting residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
